Sunday Minute – December 10, 2017

Good evening families, this is Mrs. Stevens, Principal of Topeka, home of the tigers, with this week’s Sunday Minute!

I am happy to report that school will resume tomorrow, December 11th.  In making decisions on school operations, the safety and well-being of our students and staff is always our top priority.  We will reopen based on improved air quality and the lifting of mandatory evacuations in areas impacting our school communities.  We may continue to limit outdoor activities until we are confident that the air quality has returned to safe levels.

Attendance 97% or better for each student

I wanted to remind you that we have a very attainable attendance goal for this year.  Our goal is that every Topeka Tiger has a 97% or higher attendance rate.  Let’s finish this last week strong! I am looking forward to seeing you all at school tomorrow.

Holiday Parties

Family, for the health and safety of our students, please be reminded that ALL food, fruit and desserts, that you are planning to bring for Holiday parties, MUST be store bought and arrive to school sealed.  In addition, please be aware that we are a PEANUT FREE ZONE.  We have many students with peanut allergies and we want to keep them safe.

Holiday Program Thursday 12/14 & Friday 12/15

This week’s Holiday Program will take place on Thursday December 14th for families with the last names A to L and Friday, December 15th for families with last names M to Z.  Pre-K to Kinder will perform at 8:30am, 1st -3rd at 9:15am and finally 4th and 5th at 10:00am.  Attendance on those days are just as important as any other day, so please refrain from checking your children out early.  The teachers have special events planned for those days and we don’t want your child to miss out.

Lost & Found

It’s getting to be that time again.  Time to clean out the Lost and Found.  Please take a look for your lost items as they bin will be emptied again by Friday.

PBIS- Be Respectful

Our positive behavior focus this week is to Be Responsible.  Students, you can show that you are responsible by making sure you are being your BEST SELF, getting up on time in the morning, doing all class and homework, along with remembering to bring your lunch and orchestra instruments yourself. I will be looking for those students who show great responsibility this week.

Friday is a Minimum Day- 12:33PM Dismissal

Finally, please mark your calendars.  Friday is a minimum day which means students will be dismissed at 12:33PM.  Please make arrangements for your children, especially the TK-1st graders, to be picked up on time.
