Sunday Minute – April 8, 2018

Good evening, families! This is Mrs. Stevens, Principal of Topeka, with this week’s Sunday Minute!

Mark your calendars for the 80’s FAMILY DANCE Friday, April 13th 5:30pm-8:00pm

Do you remember what it was like to be at a party in the 1980’s?  Well, mark your calendars because you will get to relive the 80’s fun, on Friday, April 13th! From 5:30pm- 6:15pm we will begin our Family Dance with a sensory friendly kickoff and then continue the festivities until 8:00PM.  I’ve already worked on my outfit and can’t wait to see yours.  Tickets are $20 per family and are available for purchase.  Please check the e-backpack for info and an order form.

PBIS- Be Respectful

Please make some time to talk to your children about appropriate language to use in situations of anger or when they are feeling like something isn’t fair.  Despite what we hear and see in social media and on TV today, there ARE effective and respectful ways to communicate when anger or when feeling like something is unfair. Together we can cultivate a climate of care.

Monday PTA Executive Board Members meeting- Auditorium, Monday 4/9 @ 1:00PM

The PTA Executive Board members will be meeting in the library, Monday April 9th at 1:00PM.

World’s Finest Chocolate BMX Show Tuesday, 4/10 @ 10:30AM

The World’s Finest Chocolate BMX Show will be this Tuesday, April 10th at 10:30AM.

Kindergarten and TK enrollment packets now available

Parents, it’s time to pick up your Kindergarten or TK enrollment packets. Please come to the office with your child’s birth certificate and your proof of residency (ex. DWP or gas bill) to receive your enrollment packet.  It is to your advantage to pick up the enrollment packet and turn it in sooner rather than later.

Attendance Matters!

Families, your child’s attendance matters for many reasons.  The number one reason is that for every minute and/or day that your child is absent, there is an accumulation of instruction missed.  Let’s work together to take good care and be at school all day every day.

Principal of the Day- Friday, 4/13  Megan Miron

This Friday let’s welcome, Megan Miron as our Principal of the Day!

I leave you with this quote to inspire our Kindness Heroes- No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.                                                                                                                        -Aesop

That’s it for this week’s news from school!  Have a tigerrific evening!
