Good evening, families! This is Mrs. Stevens, with this week’s Sunday Minute.

Parents, I want to remind you that if you don’t live in our school’s resident area, and you have a sibling that you would like to enroll at our school, you must apply to our school through the unified enrollment choices lottery application process, even though you currently have another child here at Topeka.  If you don’t, the sibling will have to attend their home resident school.

SWPBIS- Safety-Morning Valet- 4th grade parents needed

This week we are reaching out to 4th grade parents asking for help with the morning safety valet.  We still need 4th grade parent volunteers to sign up for Valet.  Each month is assigned to different grade levels and 4th grade’s month is February.  We need your help anytime between 7:30 and 8:00am.  Please ask your room parent or Marissa Croft for more details. Thank you in advance.

Finally, we have received many questions recently about the coronavirus, and I would like to provide you with the latest information.  There are no confirmed cases of the coronavirus in our school community.

Also, the L.A. County Department of Public Health reports that there is no immediate public threat in Los Angeles.

We want our students, families and staff to remain healthy during the flu season, and encourage everyone to wash their hands regularly, which we have been informed is the most effective method of protecting against diseases.

As the world community deals with this serious health issue, it is important for adults to model calm, sensitive and respectful behavior. Thank you for working with us to maintain healthy, calm, and safe learning environments for our children.

That’s it for this week’s news from school.  Have a tigerrific evening.
