Open Treasurer Position for PTA

The PTA treasurer position for the 2020-2021 school year is still open, and we really need you!  Without this important position filled, our school will not have a functioning PTA.  If you are interested, please contact Tiffany Osborne at ptapresident@topekadrive.com or Julie Shon at ptatreasurer@topekadrive.com as soon as possible.

Friday, April 24th at 10:00am- VIRTUAL PARENT WORKSHOP.

I will be sharing a few updates on staff instructional requirements and then we will enjoy a presentation from our Neighborhood School Safety Program partners, from the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office.  We will learn about the 311number and how to connect to our local government resources.  The presentation will also include a Q & A for parents at the end of the meeting.

TIGER TALES -In order to continue creating a culture of care at Topeka, we are launching another way for us to stay connected, share success, and other uplifting stories on our new website feature we will call ‘Tiger Tales’.  Please feel free to email me pictures, short videos, summaries, etc. that you are giving permission for us to post on our website and/or Instagram page. Please email your submissions to Josephine.stevens@lausd.net

I also want to remind you that LA Unified has opened a phone hotline that students and families can call for help to manage fear, anxiety, and other challenges related to COVID-19.  The phone hotline number is 1-213-241-3840. It’s open weekdays 6am-6pm and staffed by mental health professionals who speak both English and Spanish.

That’s it for this week’s news from school, have a tigerrific evening.
