Sunday Minute – May 3, 2020
Good evening, families! This is Mrs. Stevens, with this week’s Sunday Minute.
First, I want to thank you all for a very special Principal’s Day. I really appreciate all of the love that you poured on me. It is my calling and pleasure to serve you all.
Because we can’t send home documents like we would normally do this time of year, this week’s Sunday Minute has some links to some important forms, on which we will need your response. So please listen carefully and then check the school’s webpage or your email for the text version of this message, in order to access the links and/or Zoom log-in information.
Intentions for 2020-2021 School Year
The first one involves your intentions for the 2020-2021 school year. We are beginning to plan for next year. If you are NOT planning to return to Topeka, please complete the following form as soon as possible or at least by Tuesday, May 12, 2020. https://bit.ly/Intentionsfor20-21
School Waivers Ballot
At the Governance Council meeting last week, our Council voted to apply for 3 school waivers given stakeholder support. Topeka has applied and been granted these waivers for several years now and would like to continue. The desired waivers would give our school the right to the following:
- To have early dismissal- Banked time Tuesdays every Tuesday, beginning the first week of school
- Have a staff Selection Committee that consists of our teachers and stakeholders to hire teachers and administrators
- To consolidate School Leadership Councils – to function under the single umbrella of Governance Council
Please use the link in this message to provide your feedback.
Trouble Shooting Team
A part of our school’s vision is to have innovative and creative partnerships as a school community, for the benefit of our students. Again, this community continues to live out our vision. As a result of collaboration at the Coffee With the Principal, we now have a team of parents willing and ready to support ‘basic trouble-shooting’ needs as it relates to remote learning, like tips for printing digital assignments, creating PDF documents, uploading assignments, etc. Please be on the look-out for a link on the school’s webpage, that you can use to submit your need.
Parents, this week there are a variety of workshops from which to choose. The hope is that you will attend the ones that meet your needs.
Monday, May 4th at 2:00PM- there will be a workshop on Supporting Children with Disabilities in Distance Learning, hosted by LD Northwest Special Education Administrator Lisa Kendrick and her team.
