Good evening, families! This is Mrs. Stevens, with this week’s Sunday Minute.

Monday – NO SCHOOL

Please be reminded that there is NO SCHOOL MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 28TH in honor of Yom Kippur.

Warning Notices

Parents please note that academic progress warning notices will be going home sometime within this week.  The notices are intended to notify you IF your child is close to or is currently performing at a partially proficient level (earning a 2 or less) at this point in the reporting period.  It is a warning notice designed to bring things to your attention and to initiate additional partnership between you and the teacher, to support your child’s success.  The notices will only be sent to those for whom it applies.

Tiger Trot PTA Fundraiser

Tigers we are getting closer to the big day of our Virtual Tiger Trot event presented by Topeka Drive PTA and the California Credit Union. We would love your support! Do you want to see your teachers participate in their favorite fitness activities? Join us on Wednesday, October 7th between 3pm-6pm, when your child can watch pre-recorded videos of this year's annual "Tiger Trot" and raise funds by completing their favorite fitness activities. All pledges collected will benefit the Computerwise program. Please help us reach our goal of $20,000, as every dollar donated to this fundraiser, stays here at Topeka SAS and is tax-deductible for our donors. Fundraising started on Monday, September 21st and continues through Friday, October 9th. Pledges can be submitted in the link provided in the email version of this message.  https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=QYYZAP3E6ZQXA&source=url or on one of our many drop-off money days. Our First money drop off days will be this Wednesday and Friday.

All students that collect pledges at the $75 and $150 pledge amount, will receive a BJ's Restaurant child's meal certificate and have the opportunity to attend the "Tie Dye" dance party; parent permission is required and we must have the child’s parent authorization prior to logging on (signed permission slip). Lastly, we have cool raffle prizes, such as: a mini Sega Genesis, Robeks, Nintendo Switch Lite, 2 tickets to Universal Studios, Whole Foods, Yogurtland, 2 tickets to Six Flags Magic Mountain and 1-$500 Great Wolf Lodge gift certificate and many more! Parent & Community Tip of the Week- A message from our Parent Center Director

The vision of Topeka Charter School for Advanced Studies is to provide all students with the tools to become responsible leaders, productive and respectful citizens who transform their communities and create a culture of care.  Our Parent Center Tip of the Week, submitted by our Parent Center Director, Marissa Croft, will provide tips, information, and resources that will  allow ALL stakeholders to have an intentional and active role in fulfilling our school’s vision.  This week’s Parent Center Tip of the Week is:

Talk to your children about race.  Take a listen to this short podcast titled: Talking Race with Young Children with Beverly Daniel Tatum.
