Sunday Minute – September 12, 2021
Good evening, families. This is Mrs. Stevens with this week’s Sunday minute.
Transitioning to Valet Service
I want to thank our first set of valet volunteers- Miss Jiyoung, Miss Heather, and Miss Julie for making themselves available to serve on our valet team. They will be assisting us on Labrador street.
Until we get more volunteers, our valet service will only be available for the TK-1st grade gate on Labrador starting tomorrow, September 13th.
Cars will pull up, the valet team will check for a current Daily Pass with the child's name. If the child has the right daily pass, they will be escorted out of the car and given a yellow ticket to go into campus.
If the child does not have a daily pass, a staff member will be called to the car to see if the child is permitted to be on campus that day. If not, the child will stay in the car and return home with the parent/guardian.
We are transitioning to this service again with our new COVID protocols, therefore everyone will need to be patient and kind. Our students deserve to see and hear the adults living out the respectful citizenship that they’ve been learning about. Please note that the gate will be closed at 8:00am when school begins. If you are late to the valet line, you will need to park and check-in at the main gate off of Topeka Drive.
Again, the valet service is for those in TK-1st grade who check-in at the Labrador gate, and will begin tomorrow morning
Until we can secure additional help, 2nd through 5th grade families will still need to WALK UP WITH A PARENT and check-in at the Topeka gate.
If you can donate 30 minutes of your time, please contact Marissa Croft @ firstname.lastname@example.org.
The mobile unit will be on campus on Monday to test our students and staff.
LatinX/Hispanic Heritage Month begins Wednesday, September 15th
We are excited to celebrate LatinX/Hispanic Heritage month, beginning on September 15th. Our school values the beauty of our diversity and we look forward to honoring the many contributions and inspiring victories of our LatinX/Hispanic heroes.
NO SCHOOL THURSDAY
Finally, please be reminded that there is NO SCHOOL on Thursday, September 16th in honor of Yom Kippur.
That’s it for this week’s news from school. Have a tigerrific evening!
Parents, there is no charge for lunch for all students. However, if you haven’t filled out the Meal Benefits Application, please do so as soon as possible. You may pick up an application in the main office or go online https://www.myschoolapps.com/ It’s important that all families fill out the meal applications. If we don’t have 100% participation, it could negatively impact the amount of money we receive in our budget for next year.
This is a loving reminder to parents to please check out our Tiger Fund page on our school’s website. The Tiger Fund is a direct-ask donation program through PTA. There are links attached to the email version of this message with more rewarding information.
