I am humbled and honored to serve as the new principal of Topeka Elementary Charter School for Advanced Studies beginning October 28 of this year. I look forward to meeting all of you and working alongside the Topeka community. I can assure you that I share in this school community’s dedication to caring for our students every day while providing them with a meaningful learning environment. The 2021-2022 school year will mark my 16th year in education. I have worked with students ranging in age from Preschool through 6th grade at Plummer, Gledhill, Calahan, Vintage Magnet, and Superior Elementary Schools and 9th through 12th grade at Santee Education Complex in South Los Angeles in a variety of roles. I have been a special education teacher, special education coordinator, and a program specialist. Most recently, I have served as the Assistant Principal supporting Cohasset EL in Van Nuys. I firmly believe that every child can exceed and that the cooperation between home and school builds trust and self-esteem in students. I plan on working with students, teachers, parents, and the entire Topeka community to ensure that our students are safe and learning at high levels. Together we will continue to provide experiences that are rigorous, relevant and with relationships based on trust to prepare them for their future endeavors. As your new principal, it is important to me to greet everyone who enters the school with the utmost respect. I have an open door policy and value every stakeholder’s opinion. Please feel free to contact me to discuss any concerns you may have or any points of pride you would like to share. I sincerely welcome your conversation and input during the school year. Let us keep our students the primary focus of our work. I cannot wait to celebrate our collective successes during the 2021-2022 school year and in the years to come.
